Captain Atlas is a ShipMatch product for professional maritime decision support. It is not a shipbroker, carrier, owner, charterer, legal adviser or party to any fixture or contract.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Captain Atlas mobile application, related web pages, APIs and ShipMatch-connected services. By creating an account, signing in or using Captain Atlas, you agree to these Terms and the applicable Privacy Policy.
If you use Captain Atlas for a company or another organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Service description
Captain Atlas provides AI-assisted maritime and chartering workflows that may include conversation, circular parsing, cargo and open-vessel matching, market search, freight indications, sea-route calculations, vessel and port intelligence, offer drafting, notifications, watchlists, charter-party review and laytime or demurrage assistance.
Features depend on account eligibility, subscription tier, service availability, third-party data, location, device and product version. ShipMatch may add, change, limit, suspend or remove features where reasonably necessary.
3. ShipMatch account connection
Captain Atlas uses the ShipMatch account system. Existing ShipMatch members may sign in with the same credentials. Users who register through Captain Atlas may also receive a connected ShipMatch account.
You are responsible for providing accurate information, protecting credentials and all activity under your account. You must promptly notify support if you suspect unauthorized access. You may not share access in a manner that bypasses plan limits or security controls.
Eligible subscription status may be synchronized between Captain Atlas and ShipMatch. Synchronization may require successful store verification and may not be instantaneous during outages or payment-review periods.
4. AI-assisted outputs
Captain Atlas uses automated and AI-assisted systems. Outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, ambiguous or unsuitable for a particular trade. You must independently review all extracted fields, calculations, matches, translations, drafts, research results and recommendations.
Captain Atlas is designed to acknowledge uncertainty and avoid inventing facts, but no system can guarantee error-free output. Do not rely on Captain Atlas as the sole basis for safety, sanctions, compliance, credit, insurance, navigation, legal, tax, financial, employment or investment decisions.
Conversation memory and language continuity are convenience features. They do not guarantee complete recall of previous instructions, and users should restate material commercial facts when accuracy is important.
5. Market data, matches and commercial actions
Market information
Cargoes, vessels, positions, contacts, port data, vessel data, congestion, routes, bunker context, Freight Signal values and other market information may be supplied by users, ShipMatch systems or third-party providers. Availability and accuracy are not guaranteed. Records may change or become unavailable without notice.
Matching
Match scores and rankings are decision-support indicators, not endorsements, warranties of suitability or evidence of a fixture. Users must verify vessel capacity, cargo suitability, laycan, geography, sanctions, class, ownership, insurance, counterparty standing and all other relevant terms.
Freight and distance
Freight indications, route distances, steaming estimates, port-wait assumptions and related outputs are indicative only. They are not firm offers, market quotations, navigational instructions or guarantees of voyage performance.
Offers and submissions
Captain Atlas may prepare drafts or submit user-confirmed data through supported ShipMatch workflows. You remain responsible for every message, offer, cargo, vessel position and instruction sent from your account. You must have the right to use and share all submitted information.
ShipMatch is not a party to negotiations, fixtures, charter parties, sale and purchase transactions, transport contracts or payments between users. No agency, partnership, fiduciary or brokerage relationship is created solely by use of Captain Atlas.
6. Free and Premium access
Free access includes selected features and usage limits. Premium access may provide expanded AI usage, broader search and matching, deeper commercial context, offer tools, watchlists or other features described in the app. Limits and feature availability may be updated to protect service quality, security and fair use.
Mobile app-store subscriptions
- Captain Atlas may offer monthly and annual auto-renewable subscriptions through Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
- Payment is charged to the Google or Apple account used for the purchase after purchase confirmation.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled within the period required by the applicable store and its rules.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in the Google Play or Apple account settings used for the purchase.

If Captain Atlas becomes available through another app store, purchases are governed by that store’s billing, renewal, cancellation and refund terms. Web subscriptions remain subject to the applicable ShipMatch checkout terms.

8. User content and intellectual property
You retain rights you lawfully hold in content you submit. You grant ShipMatch a limited, worldwide license to host, process, reproduce, format and transmit that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure and improve user-facing Captain Atlas and ShipMatch services.
Captain Atlas, ShipMatch, software, designs, trademarks, logos, documentation and original content are owned by ShipMatch or its licensors. Except for normal use of the service, no rights are granted without written permission.
9. Third-party services
Captain Atlas relies on third-party infrastructure, data, AI, analytics, email, push-notification, vessel-data and app-store services. Their availability and terms may affect features. External links and third-party content are provided for convenience and do not constitute an endorsement or guarantee.
10. Availability, suspension and termination
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may suspend access for maintenance, security, legal compliance, abuse, non-payment, third-party outages or risks to users or the platform.
You may stop using Captain Atlas at any time and may request account deletion. We may restrict or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Provisions that by nature should survive termination, including payment, intellectual-property, disclaimer and liability provisions, remain effective.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Captain Atlas and ShipMatch are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, market outcome or uninterrupted service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ShipMatch will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or commercial losses, including lost profit, fixture, opportunity, reputation, data or business, arising from use of or reliance on the service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Consumer rights, if applicable in your jurisdiction, remain unaffected.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms to reflect product, legal, security or operational changes. The effective date will be updated on this page. Continued use after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
